The thesis sets the tone for a paper, and without a solid one, your chance of getting an “A” on that essay is about as slim as finding Bigfoot poop (see my last post). So, without further ado, here are some tips for crafting an “A”-worthy thesis.

You do not have to get an “A” on every test and assignment in order to achieve a 4.0 GPA. It’s absolutely possible to save your overall grade from a poor test score or bad assignment grade. Throughout your college career, you’re going to (if you haven’t already) run into teachers who are difficult. I don’t mean the good-gosh-his-tests-are-hard difficult, I mean the I-think-my-teacher-might-be-at-least-partially-evil difficult. believe that beauty is inherent in the majority of the written language that we use. Most of the instances that come to my mind come from fishing books. Perhaps this is because of my own affinity for fishing, or maybe it is because of the spiritual nexus that comes together when fishing, fisherman, water, and nature meet. The beauty does not even have to come from erudite language that moves circuitously through meaning like a winding mountain stream. Henry Winkler’s (yes, the Fonz) writing perhaps best demonstrates the beauty in simple language.
Note taking is one of the most important skills that you can have when trying to obtain a 4.0 GPA or when trying to improve your current GPA. I’m not sure why, but students are just expected to know how to take notes when they arrive at college. There’s no orientation on the subject, there’s no class. It’s a situation of *poof* here’s your instructor. Now, start writing. Here are my secrets to taking good, reliable class notes.
While I was waiting for the elevator, a woman was wheeled into the corridor where I was waiting. She was probably no more than forty-five years old, and maybe even less. She was clearly riddled with cancer, so it was difficult to gauge her real age. Her face was pale with pain, and her eyes were sunken with fatigue. An elegant, floral scarf covered her head, and she carried a girly purse in her lap that was dripping in charms and gold chains. Only one leg dangled from her wheelchair—the other one being non-existent.

Despite how enticing it is to be part of a group, you have to ask yourself: should I join, or will such a commitment hurt my chances at getting that 4.0 GPA or hinder me from improving my current GPA? Here are a few questions to ask yourself before you sign your name to that clipboard.
