Smoke-Induced Longing for Summer

With all of the smoke from the fires around here (particularly the one in Yosemite), I’m stuck inside because of my asthma.  I’m an outdoors girl, and I love my summers, so you can imagine how happy I am about this.  Therefore, because I can’t enjoy the typically beautiful weather that the Sierras give us this time of year, I figured that I would bring a bit of summer to this blog with a couple of summer photos that I took last summer and this summer.  Enjoy!

Aww, what a cute baby strawberry. It was delicious after it ripened. Photo by: Elizabeth Preston

This is a duck that hangs around a lake that we visit. His bill is misshapen, and his tongue comes out when he quacks. But, not to worry, he can eat just fine and he's quite popular with the female ducks. Who knew a weird beak was a chick magnet? Photo by: Elizabeth Preston

  1. Great photos! And, btw, weird beaks are in! That’s why kids move their cap’s bills to the side. Maybe I should come to class with a baseball cap to the side and get all the chicks swooning over me.
